I don’t know exactly how special ed works in Lakewood, but I would assume, in general, the $12/hour office people are doing general secretarial work. If you are out of Lakewood, though, a special ed job would likely entail either working for the public school system or an agency, all of which will pay significantly above $12/hour. I’m sure they pay more than that in Lakewood, too. I’d guess that someone with a special ed degree earning $12/hour in Lakewood (if that’s even the case), is just working as a regular teacher for those exact hours between babysitting pick-up and drop-off. I’ve no doubt that there are public school systems nearby that pay significantly more for full time employees.

    Agreed.

It’s come to the point that newly married friends don’t call/invite for fear of offending the single friend and setting off a storm of letters and postings to the Yated and YW. What can I say? What can’t I say? Is it ok if I mention my spouse or kids? What if I mention them by mistake? You know, it’s just too complicated right now. I’ll just call later.

There are plenty of reasons to want to live out of Lakewood, but if all you’re capable of earning is $12 an hour in Lakewood, odds are that you’re not going to paid any more (if that much) elsewhere.

    Please.

First of all, Yanky55’s use of the comma before “and” was not covered by the “serial comma” rule.

Second of all, Mariner merely quoted http://www.getitwriteonline.com/archive/021201.htm. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but a citation would have been nice.

My point was, though, that almost nobody has consistently perfect grammar. If you’re going to criticize (yes, “criticise” is how it’s spelled in England), however, you’d better be sure your own grammar is up to par.

I dont think their is anything wrong with most peoples writing here on this forum.

if your looking to critisise you can be able to do it I’m sure because most people do not always have a perfect writing but I don’t think its much worse then the genrel population porportionatly.

By the way, your comma placement is dead wrong. People who live in glass houses …

This is emblematic of the laziness of today’s youth. And if you’re not young, it’s still a great example. Why do you need someone to tell you what it means? Look it up!

Here, I did the hard work for you.

    Average:

Wikipedia: An average, or central tendency [1] of a data set refers to a measure of the “middle” or “expected” value of the data set.

Merriam-Webster: A single value (as a mean, mode, or median) that summarizes or represents the general significance of a set of unequal values.

I’ll leave “normal” as an exercise for the reader.
