I stopped reading/watching/listening to the news years ago, and I haven’t looked back since. The (mainstream) news medias are obviously biased and try to make a living, and they do that mostly via advertising (both direct and indirect). That means that they have to “retain” viewers/readers as much as they can, and unfortunately they take advantage of human’s bias for negativity to bombard us with mostly negative news.
The most important news I’ll hear from my surroundings anyway. They’re my filter. Believe me, you’ll hear about Trump becoming president or another anti Israel decision in the UN from your friends/family…
Don’t feel obligated to get a gift basket stuffed with candies and chocolate (although that’s kind of the “expectation”). IMHO there’s something nice about gifting a classy, minimal gift box, for example a nice bottle of Israeli wine and olive oil such as this one.
But feel free to gift what the people want. These days you can find almost anything that comes in a gift basket, or you can make it yourself.
