Yes HaLeiVi, I understand what you mean; however, having lived over the Green line for over 33 years, my family and I have suffered a lot of discrimination and cruelty at the hands of Jews because we live “over the line.” My husband, a medical doctor trained at the best programs, was even denied employment because of where we live! The news outlets all over the world and Israel with the exception of the very right-wing ones like Arutz 7, still refer to those of us living over the Green line as “settlers/right-wing extremists,” no matter that we live in a city of 80,000 Jews in a beautiful apartment. The fact is that we live next to an Arab area, Hussan, and have been targeted by them at times with rock throwing. It’s not as dangerous as other areas, but there is a certain amount of danger. Hence, the “miseret nefesh” factor. Those who live in an outpost, yes, very idealistic people believe that we need to hold onto our land by living on it. They like to set up these outposts in response to Arab terrorists who have murdered Jews in the area. Yet, I find that it would be a more productive discussion to focus on the Jewish people living outside Israel joining us in Israel, with 8 million Jews already here waiting for the rest of world Jewry to come home!

I’m not sure what you are talking about! If you think that people in Israel live in caravans without running water, then you know nothing about Israel. You may have heard slanted news reports of “settler outposts,” but please don’t get sucked into the blood libel against Jews living over the Green line. Israel is very developed and beautiful. The quality of life at this point probably surpasses people in frum neighborhoods in the US. Even Jews, of whom most are frum, residing over the Green line live mostly in nice apartments or villas with lots of land and trees. Bertar Ilit has around 80,000 frum Yidden. It’s a wonderful city with fabulous shopping, and it is very safe to walk around, even late at night. There are beautiful displays throughout the city and excellent activities for children and adults. There are countless shuls and excellent schools/yeshivas throughout the neighborhood. The sound of learning and davening can be heard all day.
As far as people “lying in the street in protest…i don’t know because it’s not a common event, and has certainly not happened in Betar.. Perhaps it’s also a style of protesting in the US, and I know there have been many pro-Hamas and antisemitic protests going on in the US with people doing all sorts of crazy things, including violent acts against Jews.
Lastly, I’d like to mention this business with “zionists.” I’d like to know what your definition of a Zionist is because no one mentions Zionism anymore. I don’t hear this term! When you have a population BH almost 8 million Jews living in Israel with its own army, we’ve moved past Zionism into developing Israel, which includes spreading Yiddishkeit and enjoying the gift and inheritance which Hashem has given us.

It’s time for Yeshiva World to shut down this post! I’m hearing such loshen hora about Jews living in Israel, especially those living over the Green line, referred to as warped and evil. Also, the sinat chinim is not to be believed. SHUT THIS DOWN!!

To somejewiknow, I was once a tinok shenishba, but then I was fortunate to meet some nice frum people who decided “not to kill me quickly.” And they shared Shabbos and were kind. They taught me about Yiddishkeit. Then I became a “Baalat Teshuva. Not only me, but at least a million more. I then went on to influence others to do mitzvos and keep the Torah. You call this heresy?!
When I made the comment, Hashem does everything, You responded Hashem does everything, including the Holocaust and its partner the State of Israel. Why do you use the language of the extreme left who wants us destroyed?

One final comment. Everything that happens is from HASHEM! Even the creation of Israel as a State…and it’s Hashem’s business if he used non-religious Jews to accomplish this. Perhaps it’s to teach us that every Jew does some type of mitzvah, even if it’s not intentionally. And some Jews have even become religious after experiencing something like BEING A HOSTAGE or being exposed to good frum people willing to accept them and share a bit of Yiddishkeit with them. For example, I have seen non-observant Jews involved in helping someone, giving money to charity, or fighting in the IDF/defending the land of Israel and the Jewish people, which in itself is such a “mersert nefesh” and brings huge reward to this person. WE cannot know what is in the heart of a person or what happened in someone’s life. Therefore, WE should leave JUDGEMENT to Hashem. Our Holy Temple was destroyed by Sinat Chinam. Let us change this NOW! Let’s open our hearts to caring about and respecting every Jew. Even if, for some reason, you don’t want to come to Israel or believe in its legitimacy, know that there are manay many pure neshamas living in the Holyland. We should never speak badly about anyone living in Israel or the land for any reason because it is forbidden! LET’S BRING MOSSIACH BY CHANGING OUR ATTITUDES TO LOVING OUR FELLOW JEW!

It says hundreds of times in the Torah that Israel is a gift from G-d to Israel, and we say it a few times in every davening and in the Shma. At least 10 times a day, we talk about Israel, and we daven to bring every Jew back to Israel, so at this point, we are back with millions of Jews! We also daven to destroy all the evil people, but calling all the people in Israel, especially so many very frum people like myself, who are willing to risk our lives as well as sacrifice material comforts only because G-d said it’s our gift, is absolutely wrong and evil.
Any reasonable Jew can understand this by reading the Bible. One should be ashamed to suggest refusing the gift of G-d! Certainly, all the good people of Israel don’t deserve criticism for not being able to make everyone follow the Torah, but as Torah Jews, we not only influence others to keep the Torah but are slowly transforming Israel into a Torah State as more religious Jews join us.

Thank you for your apology. It’s really not for myself, but for every “settler.” You’re forgiven. As far as your statement: there’s no easy solution, I disagree. The answer is simple. Come join us in Israel, and take what is our gift and inheritance from Hashem! The are around 1 million Jews living over the Green line. We’re winning! Be a part of this!

There is a positive mitzva to conquer the land and settle it in every generation. We are fortunate that at this time, there are probably 1 million Jews living over the Green line, so how can we call this idolatry? Maybe you’re not aware, but now there is quite a bit of antisemitism going on around the world, including NY. I live in Betar Ilit, a Torah city of over 80,000 Jews. Are we all idolaters because we live here?

I want you to know that I am sooooo soo hurt by this topic “SETTLERS ARE RODFIM” because I am a very proud “settler!” During my over 33 years living over the Green line, my family and I have been in several Arab Terrorist attacks. And yet, we are still here because we believe this is our land, it is holy and precious, and needs to be lived on by Jews! So we’re here. At the very least, Jews outside of Israel SHOULD NEVER REFER TO US AS SETTLERS! It’s offensive. We are inheritors of the land, and we invite you all to join us.

The Title of this post is Settlers are RODFIM! That’s like saying all people in Boro Park are evil. G-d forbid! It implies that this title applies to ALL PEOPLE living over the Green line. But in this case, we didn’t even guy our INNOCENT fellow Jew before being quick to condemn him. Even so, as I said, many Jews are extremely frustrated at the ongoing murderous ARAB TERRORISM. Therefore, it’s time that we, as a Jewish people, should support and stand up for each other!

Firstly, I’d like to make something clear since I am a Hareidi 67-year-old wife, grandmother, and “SETTLER” LIVING OVER THE GREEN LINE FOR OVER 33 YEARS! This conversation is absolutely terrible and VERY VERY MEAN/FORBIDDEN TO SAY ABOUT YOUR FELLOW JEW who is doing Mesert Nefesh by living in a part of Israel which protects it and develops the land which is ours!! There is no violent “settler” movement that I know of going on there in all the years I lived here. IF and I mean IF a few guys engaged in violence against Arabs, you can bet they had a good reason (although I do not encourage people to break the law) because the fact is that Arab terrorist attacks and lots of murder against Jews LIVING OVER THE GREEN Line have been ongoing since before I lived here. We’re dealing with many evil goyim, make no mistake, and THIS LAND IS OURS! To quote Arutz 7:

Once again, we are witnessing videos that serve the “settler violence” campaign-a campaign that raises its head whenever the left identifies an opportunity for diplomatic pressure that could lead to further Israeli withdrawals. BLOOD LIBEL! The purpose of the blood-libel campaign against the Jews living in Judea and Samaria (labeled in English “settlers” but who really should be called “inheritors of the land”) is to serve as a tool in the hands of those demanding their uprooting and expulsion from Judea and Samaria and the establishment of an Arab terror state in the heart of our land.
I highly enourage all of you who have said nasty things about “settlers,” you fellow Jews to learn the laws of Loshen Hora and start caring about each and every Jew if you really want Mossiach to ever come.

I think there is a very serious issue here. I myself have witnessed unusual situations being hosted at isolated Chabad houses in the US. It got to a point that I thought better to be by myself.
