Baruch Dayan Emmes: Rav Tuvia Levinstein Z”L


Rabbi Tuvia Levinstein z”l was niftar in Assaf HaRofeh Hospital at the age of 55 shortly before Shabbos ended. Rav Tuvia was the founder of Kav L’Chaim.

Rav Tuvia was the father of 9 of his own children and 4 adopted children. He was born in the community of Nachalim, and learned in the community hesder yeshiva. He served in the IDF as a combat medic and after being discharged, he became the treasurer of his community.

Some 20 years ago, his daughter was diagnosed with cancer and after she was cured, the niftar and his wife Nechama launched Kav L’Chaim towards assisting cancer patients and their families alike. The tzedaka organization has assisted thousands of people over the years with many programs, including summer camp.

A number of years ago the rav was diagnosed with diabetes, which led to kidney failure and the need to be on dialysis.

On Friday, the entire family gathered, realizing the end was imminent, wishing to be together with their father. When the niftar returned his neshama, his entire family was at his side.

Rav Levinstein was a grandson of Rabbi Yisrael Meir Levinstein z”l, a former MK and among the founders of Agudas Yisrael. His father was in the textile industry and his mother was a teacher in Kfar Chabad.

The levaya took place on motzei Shabbos at 9:00pm.
