Officials say a malfunctioning fireworks display at a northern New York speedway left several spectators with minor injuries.

Local media report that crowds at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh were watching a fireworks display at about 10 p.m. Wednesday when remnants of a blast reached the stands. Police say six people were treated and released at a local hospital for minor injuries.

The Speedway reports on its Web page that a malfunctioning multiple-stage firework rocket was partially deflected by race track fencing.
