WATCH: Hundreds Sing & Dance As Rabbi Berland Returns Home

Head of the Shuvu Banim community Rabbi Eliezer Berland received a kabolas panim in the Choma Shlishis neighborhood of Yerushalayim, as he returns home following years of fleeing authorities and then arres, pleading guilty and being jailed. He was returning home on Wednesday afternoon 28 Iyar.

Rabbi Berland was released from prison due to his deteriorating health, and then was in a hotel at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital while undergoing treatment.

He was received warmly as excited neighbors and his chassidim awaited his return home.

  1. I’m trying to be Dan L’Kaf Zechus that maybe these people aren’t aware of the crimes he committed.

By the way, he admitted to 2 counts of indecent acts and one of assault.

  2. Just another example of how stupid some people are. How can you celebrate and admitted molestor? He should be vilified, not celebrated.

  3. Computerbagels –
No… that’s the power of an abusive cult leader. His groupies are even more perverted than he is.

  4. An admitted offender = someone who pleads guilty to avoid a prison term. Someone who admits ot his guilt freely in a TV interview = someone who has made a deal with the judge to freely admit his guilt in a TV interview.

I do not know who is guilty and who is not. I just address the term “admitted offender”. And the naivete it belies…

Today an admitted offender and an offender have as much relationship between them as do a bar and someone admitted to the bar…

  5. Berland admitted fully to assaulting a 14 year old girl among others and having people beaten. You don’t bother mentioning that in your article. Instead you focus on the wonderful celebration of his chasidim, who beat up those who dared say a bad word against this offender. The fact that your article looks this way is why offenders are protected in the Orthodox community. I am grateful for having left. I will be sharing this article and pointing out to the world how you “covered” this story.

Moderators Note: Make sure to share “to the world” the previous 300 articles YWN published about this man from the moment the accusations were made, as he ran around the world trying to escape capture, to his arrest, guilty plea as well as admitting his crimes, to his sentencing. Thanks.

  6. It’s not Judaism at all, it’s Breslov an off shoot of Judaism. They say Rav Nachman’s name in Leshem Yichud !
They encourage insanity by promoting a deep spiritual connection to a dead person who will save you from Gehenom if you come to his grave.

  7. This is the most vile thing ever. Celebrating the release of a convicted offender?!?! Really???? I wanna throw up.
Why are you posting this sort of thing??
