Principal Who Asked Student To Remove Trump Jersey Replaced

A North Carolina school district has replaced a high school principal for asking a student to remove a jersey with “Trump” on the back.

News outlets report the Harnett County School District announced a new Harnett Central High School principal in a Friday release that said students had the right to wear “clothing expressing political messages.”

Parent Mike Collins told WTVD-TV his son wore the jersey to an Oct. 5 football game with a patriotic theme. Collins says Cindy Gordon asked the 18-year-old to remove the jersey or leave, saying it was “too political” for some attendees.

Collins family attorney Tony Buzzard said they’re pleased, but didn’t know if further action will be considered.

The district’s release didn’t mention Gordon by name. It’s unclear whether she’s still employed. Reports didn’t include comment from her.

  1. I would hope this principal be canned from education completely. It has become commonplace to wear clothing with various names on it. To adore a sports figure or Hollywood celebrity, including those whose morals are conspicuously lacking, is somehow acceptable. But one bearing the name of the President of United States is not? Would wearing a shirt with the name Obama evoke similar sentiments? This principal suffers from a serious case of Anti-Trump Derangement Syndrome. If she kept her suffering to herself, sharing it, perhaps, with her physician or psychiatrist, OK. But to impose it on others is immoral and intolerable. You don’t need to like the president or agree with him to maintain a level of dignity and respect. But the extent of hate and disrespect is a horrible role model for school children. I hope she gets terminated, and never again allowed to be employed in any education system.
