CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Father & Son Hit By Vehicle in Crown Heights, Injuries Not Serious B”H

A father and his young son were both struck by an out of control vehicle in Crown Heights on Thursday morning. Miraculously, they were not seriously injured.

The incident occurred in the intersection of Crown Street and Brooklyn Avenue at around 8:00am.

The father and son, walking to school, began crossing the street when a black Mercedes sedan collided with another black Mercedes sedan, with one of the vehicles then careening onto the sidewalk and striking both pedestrians.

The boy was able to jump out of the way, but the force of the impact sent the father sprawling some 5 feet away onto the front lawn of home.

Hatzolah rushed the father to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“It was a little bit scary but then you see him move around,” said Crown Heights resident Dov Meijers. “When he flew in the grass that was one of the parts that probably helped him get hurt a little less.”

One witness, who declined to be named, said that one car ignored a steady red signal, while the other was travelling at a higher rate of speed.

The NYPD is still in the early stages of the investigation, and hasn’t said whether the traffic light was red or green at the time of the collision.
