Widely shared messages on social media on Wednesday afternoon stated that Mesivta of Waterbury had closed. YWN reached out to the Yeshiva for clarification.

The following is an official statement given to YWN by the Mesivta of Waterbury.

“The Mesivta of Waterbury located in Durham Connecticut is in the process of renewing their school certificate with the State of Connecticut.

The yeshiva made a very difficult but responsible decision to send their students home while preparing for the renewal. During that time the yeshiva will be working on facilitating the necessary upgrades to the school campus, boost their security and safety, and upgrade their school procedures and criteria.”
