LAUGHABLE: California Governor Airs Ads Trying to Get Floridians to Move to His State

California Governor Gavin Newsom is airing ads in Florida over the July 4th weekend inviting Floridians to move to his state for more “freedom.”

“It’s Independence Day,” Newsom said in the ad. “So let’s talk about what’s going on in America. Freedom is under attack in your state.

“Republican leaders… are banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors. I urge all of you living in Florida, to join the fight — or join us in California.”

Newsom’s choice of airing the ads in Florida isn’t arbitrary; it’s well known that the California governor is seriously considering a run for the presidency in 2024, especially if Biden doesn’t run again. And if he does win the nomination, Florida will be a crucial state in the general election, not to mention one whose governor, Ron DeSantis, might very well be the Republican nominee.

Asked by Fox News about the ads, DeSantis said: “Yes, there’s a lot of Californians who like what we’re doing who are coming, but even the ones that posture against Florida typically find their way here.”

DeSantis’s press secretary, Christina Pushaw, refererenced Newsom’s ads by tweeting: “Californians… aren’t you glad you pay 60% of your income in taxes to bankroll fun projects like this?”

  1. Yes, people be would just love to leave Florida for California’s high taxes, sky high cost of living, rampant illegal immigrant population, and LGBTQIA+ lifestyle friendly environment. Gov. Twosome needs to focus on eliminating mask mandates and lockdowns before trying to lure people back to his dump.

  2. If you are a Democrat and believe your own propaganda, his positions make perfect sense. Just as states such as Florida and Texas are appealing for migrants from woke states, California wants to appeal to liberals from conservative states. It is amazing how many leaders believe their own propaganda, cf. Putin in the 21st century, the Japanese and Germans during World War II, the Arabs during the first Arab-Israeli war, etc., are all examples of people inventing “big lies” and than acting as if they were true, at least until reality crashes into them).

  3. What’s “laughable”? Florida encourages out of state people to move there and even pays some, like police, a bonus to do it.

  4. There will likely be a few takers among the more “woke” Floridians anxious to pay higher taxes in return for living in the people’s republic of California. On a serious note, the “out-migration” from NY/NJ on a per capita basis has been much higher than in California. The latter experienced high out-migration in the 2015-2020 and a short-time spike at the beginning of Covid. NY/NJ had much higher out migration in late 2020 and 2021 and the trend seems to be accelerating based on combination of high taxes, crime and warm weather (which California already has).

  5. To be a democrat politician is not enough to be evil. It’s imperative to think that everyone else is stupid. Unfortunately, half the country vote democrat so they are right about half the country. For Gavin Gruesome to think that anyone in his right mind would agree to come to California to pay exorbitant prices in EVERYTHING, to live in a state where 90% of the homeless population in the country live here is insane. It completely proves that he banks on the fact that people are extremely stupid.

  6. This is comical.

NY is trying a similar strategy.

It’s unlikely to have any effect on Florida. The most likely possibility is that if it does make any difference, it would be to consolidate GOP power in Florida, by sifting out some of the far-left kooks from Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

The rest of us in Florida think that Newsome is a joke, and DeSantis is the best thing for the state in a long time.

  7. rt once more proving my point: democrat politicians rely completely on the stupids’ vote. It’s a good strategy, taking into account the massive amount of stupidity rampant everywhere.

  8. Thank you governor for “som’-new” (newsome) apprieciation for אין בן חורין אלא מי שעוסק בתורה and ” וירא “מנוחה כי טוב and והבדלנו מן התועים ונתן לנו תורת אמת!!! i also learned from my rebbeim that yissachar who learns torah is compared to a donkey b/c even when a donkey rests/vacation (in florida ofcourse 😜) it leaves its packages on itself!!! a happy and healthy summer to all even those stuck in L.A.😀!

  9. He’s right. Let all Republicans move from California to Florida and let all dumocrat Floridians move to California.

  10. Pretty funny:
Republicans say that dems are bad because they hate liberty (gun control, etc.) and attack free speech.
Democrats say that the republicans are bad because they hate liberty (abortion, etc.) and attack free speech.
Everyone just uses the same ideas to promote their own agendas, how boring!

  11. menachem shmei, i think the democrats are the only ones who say my way or the highway. if you dont agree they cancel you, your liberty and your free speech. but maybe when menachem comes it will be “tayku”-tishbi yetaretz….

  12. This guy is democrat presidential material, no doubt. Once you establish your failures regionally in California, you get to jump to the next level and fail on a national level. Just look at our first Canadian/Indian Vice President. She started out shtooping Willy Brown, failed miserably in California and now has made it big failing nationally on issues like the border, gun control, economy etc.

  13. @yehei shmei: According to my comment, you are probably a republicans, for republicans say: “dems are bad because they hate liberty and attack free speech.”
But I guess we’ll find that out as well when Menachem comes and the great name of Hashem is proclaimed and blessed throughout the world forever… 😊

  14. menachem shmei, according to your rebuttle it (my reply) totally went “over your head”. but when menachem comes all will be able to think clearly not like repulican or demo”crat” but a jewish aristo”crat”☺!

  16. @yehei shmei: This is true. Let’s hope everyone tries to think clearly already now to prepare for Moshiach.
