Likras Shabbos Lechu Veneilcha: Erev Shabbos Learning Program Underway Once Again

lp.jpgFor an increasing number of 7th and 8th grade Yeshiva boys, the hachana for Shabbos is taking on a particularly special dimension. The “Likras Shabbos” program was founded by noted Mechaber of seforim on Hilchos Shabbos, Rav Yechezkel Feldberger shlit”a. This amazing program currently has over twenty five groups in local Batei Midrash in a variety of neighborhoods in cities across North America, including New York, Lakewood, Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, St. Louis, Toronto, and others. Many more frum neighborhoods across America will iy”h join this amazing program in the near future, and will make it a true widespread Kiddush Hashem. These groups of boys spend 30- 45 precious minutes prior to Kabalas Shabbos learning and acquiring some of the most common Hilchos Shabbos.

One of the major factors of Likras Shabbos’ worldwide success Bsiyayta Dishmaya, is the Sefer “Meorei Halacha”, which is based on the world renowned Sefer “Klalim Behilchos Shabbos”. Meorei Halacha is a beautifully illustrated series of Sefarim on Melachos such as Bishul, Borer, Tochen, and Lash etc., which is specifically geared for children. The series has been approved by the Batei Dinim of Harav Nissim Karelitz Shlita and  Harav Shmuel Wosner Shlita, and is used in the “Likras Shabbos” shiurim.

A wide ranging network of paid professional Rabbeim, selected and directed by the Likras Shabbos give the Halacha Shiurim to the boys every Erev Shabbos. These Rebbeim put a particular emphasis on articulating these complex Halachos in an enjoyable, child friendly manner. “Likras Shabbos” are universally amazed at the enthusiasm their Talmidim show toward the shiur. There’s nosh, raffles, but these young boys seem most enamored by the Torah they acquire. Rav Yochanan Bald, a Lakewood “Likras Shabbos” Rebbe, amuses-“Honestly, many of the Halachos these young children know in their sleep, are ones I myself didn’t know when I was twenty years old.”

The proud parents of the American “Likras Shabbos” program’s more than 400 Talmidim watch their children’s accomplishments with the utmost “yiddish nachas”. Many fathers have even sought to join the program themselves! The 5769 winter learning program has just begun. Would you like to join your neighborhood’s existing group or add your local shul to “Likras Shabbos”s’ growing list?
