ADL urges Pope to defer Pius sainthood

The Anti-Defamation League urged Pope Benedict on Thursday to suspend the sainthood process for Pope Pius XII, whom critics accuse of turning a blind eye to the death of Jews during World War Two. The ADL said the process should stop until secret World War Two Vatican archives are declassified and fully examined “so that the full record of the Pope’s actions during the Holocaust may finally be known.” (Reuters)

  1. It is not up to the ADL to determine who other religions consider their leaders or saints, unless such self-appointed spokesmen want other religions to decide for us who is kosher and not kosher. It’s bad enough that the influences of Zionism have done that. But it is the height of chutzpa and hisgarus ba-umos to start telling everyone what to do. Why don’t the ADL and friends start cleaning up their own backyard first. I remember an American Jewish writer who wrote a book on Pope Pius and showed that all the criticisms of that pope are totally wrong. See David Dalin, The Myth of Hitler’s Pope. But none of that matters to the ADL crowd!

  2. Who cares if the Catholics elevate one of their own? Since when are internal Catholic affairs of any interest to Jews? These “Jewish” organizations are not helping Jews, IMHO, by bothering the Nations of the World.

Incidentally, of more interest to Jews than “the full record of the Pope’s actions during the Holocaust” , SHOULD be the full extent of Zionist involvement in the murder of their nominal co-religionists. Halacha hee biyadua dheEsav sonei liYaakov – but what is not known is how traitorous to “their” people the Zionists were (and are).

  3. The ADL is out of control. It is an embarrassment to us. Chutzpah that they have telling the Pope how they should run their own affairs.
    The ADL creates more anti-semites.
Someone shoud put them out of buisness.

  4. By protesting the choice of a so-called “saint,” we are giving the whole process and concept of “sainthood” recognition.

In fact the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZYA instructed his Chassidim to refer to any cities which contained “St” in their names as “S” so as not to recognize the whole concept (especially because some of these “saints” were “holy” warriors who forced Jews to shmad under pain of death).

Personally, the only saint I ever recognized was my former neighbor’s 200 pound Saint Bernard.

  5. ‘The ADL is out of control. It is an embarrassment to us. Chutzpah that they have telling the Pope how they should run their own affairs.’

This is your problem now???? The ADL being out of control??? I have news for you, goyim dont need, and NEVER needed an excuse to become antisemitic.
‘Esav soneh lyaakov’ started long before the ADL, Yes there were theories that Pope Pius was a Rosho!

Read the latest news on YW; A Yeshiva Bochur stabbed in St. pETERSBURG, a chassidish boy punched in Montreal, Eli Weisel’s offender etc. THESE horrible stories should be of concern to us. Not whether or not the ADL WANTS TO PURUES THIS; Lets side against the enemies we HAVE and leave the ‘contreversial’ amongst us for another discussion!

  6. Nameless: One problem with that approach is that we should not be giving the nations any more reasons than they already have – Esav Sonei LiYaakov – so the ADL should mind its own business and not tell the umos haOlam whom they should call a saint and whom they should not.

This is especially so because everyone thinks the ADL and these other “Jewish” organizations represent Jews. I never voted for any of these guys nor was I even told their agenda. They are acting in their name, by right, but not in anyone else’s without their permission.

  7. Nameless:

The problem is that when it comes to tachlis, and especially when it is a frum Yid who is the victim, the ADL is not there.

Like many of the misguided and useless freie organizations, it’s just a way to collect enough money from assimilated donors to assuage their guilt for being alienated from Judaism while allowing a few overpaid “executives” to draw huge salaries from this money.
