Yeshivaworld posted an article (HERE) a few days ago regarding the destruction in the Vilna Sipinsak cemetery. Unfortunately, the construction is still going on, and is intensifying. A cemetery of approximately a hundred thousand is being uprooted. Asra Kadisha is intervening to save the cemetery, and is constantly sending people to peak in through the fence what’s going on inside. Below are email addresses for people to send emails. B”H. I see the numbers now, and shall do all I can to stop this outrage. With my Skype account I may make numerous calls at no charge. Todah YW.
Mny calls were made once I became aware of this. Many calls came to message machines, and many more came to clueless Diplomats that simply try to stonewall me. My call to Ontario worked out the best. I spoke at length (21 min) with the Counselour of the Embassy. She (her name was well complicated to spell) stated thus : (in bullet point form, as that how I jotted down my notes. She spoke very quickly.)
1. There is a confrontation of the boundries of the actual cemetary. This is under dispute between the government and the local Jewish Agency.
2. Construction has been halted by order of the PM, BTW Brazauskis(sp) has been long gone, a new guy is in.
3. To dig up the dead is only done when a need or a necesity for the land. (she would not elborate on what “need or necesity” that “land” is need for.)
4. She finally broke down and gave me the number for the Foreign Affairs Department in Lithuania. The number is: 011.12.370.5.236.2424. The name of the madame to speak with was to complicated to write down in a hurry. (at time of 4:05pm no answer)
This is all I have found out. May Hashem continue to watch these blessed neshamas.
