Shabbos Bus Service in Tel Aviv Most Unlikely

Despite a Tel Aviv City Council vote to support Shabbos bus service in the city, chareidi legislators are quite confident this will not occur.

Shas and Yahadut HaTorah MKs are aware that the decision by city officials must be approved by the Ministries of Transportation and Interior, and they feel receiving approval from the ministries is not likely.

The prime minister is well aware that any attempt to launch Shabbos bus service would result in an immediate major coalition crisis, a reality he is working hard to avoid. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has already signaled that a new Tal Law will be passed, one that is amended to better meet the approval of all involved.
