Israel National Security Advisor Addresses Washington Meeting

National Security Advisor Yaakov Amidror told the media that now, following Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s meeting in the White House, the inner circle officials will have to “digest, discuss and evaluate” the situation.

“Ultimately, the decision will be premised on Israel’s security interests and on the premise the state was established to permit us to defend ourselves” added Amidror.

Amidror and US National Security Advisor Tom Donilon were present during the meeting between the prime minister and US President Barak Obama. “We did not just speak of the price of an attack, but it is clear to all that there will be a very high price if Iran achieves nuclear independence”.

Speaking with Israeli correspondents in Washington, Amidror stated that now, America’s position is clear to Israel and vice versa. “There is a difference between one who is in the Mideast and another far away. Clearly there is a difference between great power with great abilities and a small nation, but nevertheless, these differences do not take away Israel’s freedom of decision. This may sound somewhat like rhetoric but it is not”.

He added that Israel did not ask America to attack and it did not receive a refusal. The goal for the meeting was achieved. It is now clear that Iran is a top priority and there are clear positions.
