Pesach Seder Rekindled the Jewish Spark

An Eilat resident was somewhat surprised when her Arab neighbor knocked on her door seeking a favor, telling her that the Jewish female who lives with him would like to join for Pesach seder. Baruch Hashem, the spark in her neshama was rekindled with Seder night, and she has since contacted her family and returned home to her Jewish community.

According to Kol HaYehudi, someone from ‘Eilat Yehudit’ was involved and helped things along, keeping the young misguided woman in touch with her family while living in Eilat. Since that Seder night, Eilat Yehudit has been in constant touch with the young lady, and she with her family, and she has since returned home.

There is a growing Arab population in the southern port city, apparently many seeking to distance themselves from their communities as well. In addition, the city has become a safe haven for thousands of illegal aliens from African nations, many working in the local hotel industry, resulting in increased unemployment in the city’s Jewish sector.

As a result of this new demographic reality, the rate of mixed couples and intermarriage R”L is on the rise in that city. Kol Yehuda adds that sadly, there are literally hundreds of thousands of goyim living throughout Israel and the issue of intermarriage and assimilation must be addressed since no less than in the Diaspora.
