Tragedy In Israel – Three-Year-Old Child Dies After Falling Off A Roof

A three-year-old child was killed today (Sunday) after he fell off a roof in a Bedouin village near Arad. The infant was brought to a Magen David Adom ambulance by a private car and was then taken to Soroka hospital in Beer Sheva. He had sustained a serious head injury that eventually caused his death. EMS personnel fought to save the child during the drive to the hospital, but when the ambulance arrived at the hospital, doctors were forced to pronounce the infant’s death. The incident is under police investigation.

Paramedic Amiram Mualem told Israeli news outlets that: “The incident occurred near Arad. We met up with a private car who gave us a child around the age of three who was unconscious and suffering severe head trauma. They told us that the child had fallen off of a roof that was about three meters high. We treated the child while en route to the hospital. We attempted to resuscitate the child and utilized all of the medications available to us in order to stabilize the child’s condition.” Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful.

Over the past few months, there have been a number of tragic incidents involving children and infants occurring in Bedouin communities in Israel’s south. Over the summer a number of children were brought to Soroka hospital in serious condition due to scorpion bites they received. In May, a young girl was killed after she was electrocuted by an unfit washing machine.
