The trial of former Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron got underway in the Jerusalem District Court on Sunday, 9 Shevat 5773. The rav was indicted for signing off on alleged off on fictitious semicha certificates to over 1,000 men affiliated with Israel Police and the IDF.
The former chief rabbi’s attorney called to begin the trial as soon as possible towards expeditiously ending the process, with the defense counsel confident of the outcome.
