Southern Israel residents from Sderot to Ashdod suddenly found themselves back under attack as sirens wailed throughout the area on Friday night shortly after 1:15am. Sirens were heard throughout the southern cities, including Gedera, Gan Yavne, Ashkelon and Kiryat Gat. The IDF explains that Baruch Hashem there was no attack and the sirens sounded the result of a technical malfunction.

Over 1,500 rockets were fired at Israel during Operation Pillar of Defense during an eight-day period in November 2012.
