The High Court of Justice on Monday afternoon, 2 Tammuz 5773 expressed deep sympathy for the position seeking women�s representation among the voters for the new Chief Rabbis of Israel. The state is expected to respond within a week to explain what is taking place in the matter.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu supports the move and officials signal appropriate action will be taken to advance the legislation.
Women�s organizations are calling on the prime minister and Bayit Yehudi leader Minister Naftali Bennett to remove all obstacles to the bill to correct what they call �a historic injustice,� the absence of women in the body that elects the nation�s chief rabbis.
