The two chareidi men arrested for their alleged assault against police in last week�s confrontation in Meah Shearim were released from jail on Monday, erev Tisha B�Av 5773. The two were arrested for allegedly assaulting police who arrived in the community to extricate a chareidi IDF soldier who was attacked by residents.

The Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday ordered their release despite objections by the prosecutor, citing the defendants do not have a criminal past. The prosecutor was given 24 hours in which the decision may be appealed to the High Court of Justice.
