According to Minister of Public Security Yitzchak Aharonovich, while Israeli Arabs only comprise 20% of the population, that sector is responsible for 40% of the crime in Israel.

Aharonovich was addressing a session of the Knesset Finance Committee on Wednesday, 10 Menachem Av 5773 as the session addressed violence in southern Israel against the state�s razing illegal homes in the Arab sector.

The minister called on lawmakers to crack down towards beefing up law-enforcement in the Arab sector nationwide.
