Update on Psagot Shooting Attack Victim

ywnisrael.israelThe 9-year-old girl wounded in a terrorist attack on motzei Shabbos in Psagot  is now listed in light-to-moderate condition Baruch H-Shem. There was some confusion but it is now confirmed she was wounded by gunfire, not a knife.

Among the first to receive notification of the attack on motzei Shabbos was Psagot resident and paramedic Shlomo Petrover, who is the Jerusalem MDA Chief. He realized the attack occurred at a neighbor’s home and he grabbed is paramedic equipment and ran next door where he began treating the young girl. He reported that she was conscious and alert throughout the ordeal despite a gunshot wound to her upper torso.

After the attack angry residents of Beit El began throwing rocks at Arabs from nearby Jalazoun. The residents were in the yishuv, throwing rocks from over the border fence. Jalazoun residents returned fire with rocks. There were no injuries reported.

During the predawn hours, the IDF lifted the lock down in the community after conducting an extensive search, fearing the terrorist was still lurking in the community. Residents are once again free to leave their homes and return to their regular routine.

Schools in the community will not be opening on Sunday morning as of the situation at present. It appears the IDF wishes to conduct an additional check in the community after sunrise.

The victim’s name for tefilos is Noam bas Michal.

    1) As an Hatzalah first responder in the area I will say that I was there and the girl was shot in the neck not the torso. Miraculously the shot was a through in through so it didn’t cause as much damage as was intended.
    2) Schools opened this morning. The shooter has not been apprehended yet. The army think he had a get away vehicle that brought him to neighboring Ramala.
    3) Beit El is not next to the Yeshuv so I’m not sure the relevance to this news tidbit (its about 30 minutes by car on the highway, which in Israel{a seventh the size of Pennsylvania!} is not considered close at all)

    Update
The hospital (Shaari Tzedek in Yerusalayim) brought her condition down today from severe to moderate-light b”h.
