The Political-Security Cabinet late last week agreed adding 2.75 billion NIS to the defense budget after it became apparent the current budget was untenable.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz over recent days has warned that without additional funds the militarys capabilities in the face of growing threats in the region will be diminished, insisting the widespread cuts in the militarys budget are excessive. His words were echoed by Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon, who explained that while cuts are necessary, the current situation leaves the IDF without the ability to meet its responsibilities.
