NYPD Offcer Pleads Guilty To Wrongful Stop & Frisk

stfA New York City police officer has pleaded guilty to the wrongful stop and frisk of a 52-year-old man who was entering his own apartment.

The Daily News reports Officer Wilson Gonzalez entered the plea Thursday at a disciplinary trial at NYPD headquarters.

The independent Civilian Complaint Review Board says Gonzalez stopped Jasper Boyd in Brooklyn in November 2011 after seeing him walk quickly in and out of a building.

Boyd says he entered the apartment to get an umbrella.

Gonzalez says he wanted to see Boyd’s identification to check on possible arrest warrants. The watchdog group says Gonzalez frisked Boyd after he protested the search.

The officer will lose 15 days’ pay if the punishment is approved by NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
