MISERY AHEAD? Most Americans Expect Another Great Depression in Next Few Years

A Rasmussen poll found that a majority of Americans believe that another Great Depression is looming, with 55% of respondents saying that a repeat of the terrible depression of the 1930s is just around the corner.

The finding was the highest percentage of people who believe a depression is near since 2009.

Another 34% said they don’t think another depression is likely, while 11% said they weren’t sure.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said on Sunday that the U.S. had faced a real risk of a depression early in Biden’s presidency, but implied that the threat had been averted.

“There was a very real risk of recession if not depression, and an American Rescue Plan has made enormous differences in communities across the country,” Buttigieg said of Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus.

Recent reporting claimed that Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned the administration that the $1.9 trillion stimulus was far too large, would cause unnecessary inflation, and that its price tag should be cut by a third.

Her pleas were ignored.
