48 HOURS: Trump Warns Hamas to Resume Returning Hostage Bodies or Face ‘Consequences’

President Donald Trump issued a warning to Hamas on Saturday, demanding that the group “quickly” resume transferring the bodies of deceased hostages to Israel or face repercussions from countries involved in the Gaza peace framework.

In a series of posts on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Hamas’s failure to turn over the remains of hostages — including two Americans — could jeopardize what he has repeatedly called his administration’s “historic” Middle East peace deal.

“We have a very strong PEACE in the Middle East, and I believe it has a good chance of being EVERLASTING,” Trump wrote. “Hamas is going to have to start returning the bodies of the deceased hostages, including two Americans, quickly, or the other Countries involved in this GREAT PEACE will take action.”

Hamas has so far released the remains of 15 hostages, while Israel says 13 others are still being held in Gaza. The terror group claims it has lost access to some of the bodies amid the chaos of recent fighting, an assertion Israeli officials have dismissed as untrue.

“Some of the bodies are hard to reach, but others they can return now and, for some reason, they are not,” Trump continued, suggesting Hamas’s delays could be linked to its disarmament process under the ceasefire terms.

The president also reiterated that his oft-repeated promise to treat “both sides fairly” only applies if Hamas fulfills its commitments. “Perhaps it has to do with their disarming, but when I said, ‘Both sides would be treated fairly,’ that only applies if they comply with their obligations,” he said.

“Let’s see what they do over the next 48 hours,” Trump added. “I am watching this very closely.”
