Supreme Court Sets a Date for Beit Shemesh Elections Hearing

votA date on the Supreme Court calendar has been set to hear the appeal challenging the Jerusalem District Court decision ordering new elections in Beit Shemesh. The court will hear the petition on Thursday, 22 Shevat 5774 at 9:00 AM.

The petition is filed by Beit Shemesh Mayor Rabbi Moshe Abutbul, who feels the lower court’s decision compelling a second round of municipal elections is unjustified. Abutbul states with confidence that even if new elections must be held, he will emerge the winner again.

Interestingly the court calendar announcement precedes a decision from the court if it plans to hear the petition.
