NYC-Area Airports Have Canceled, Delayed Flights

canThe mild weather was fine for the first Super Bowl in the Northeast, but a snowstorm is making it tough to fly out of town.

Nearly one-fourth of the flights in and out of Newark Liberty Airport were canceled Monday morning as heavy snow fell.

The flight-tracking website FlightAware reports there are also cancelations at New York City’s LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports, but so far not as many.

In-bound flights are being delayed by three hours at Newark and four at LaGuardia, according to the Federal Aviation Administration Website.

No flights headed for Teterboro Airport are being allowed to take off until 9 a.m. New Jersey’s Teterboro is the main airport in the New York area for chartered and private flights.
