Shas chairman Aryeh Deri on Monday decided on the replacements for his positions as Interior and Health Ministers following his dismissal on Sunday in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling banning him from serving as a minister.
The new ministers began their terms in office on Tuesday at noon, when Deri’s dismissal went into effect.
Religious Services Minister Michoel Malchieli is serving as Acting Minister in the Interior Ministry, and Yoav Ben Tzur who serves as a Minister Without Portfolio in the Welfare Ministry, will also serve as Acting Minister in the Health Ministry.
MK Moshe Arbel, who until now served as deputy minister in both ministries and is a lawyer by profession, will return to the Knesset in order to coordinate the legislative moves necessary to restore Aryeh Deri to his positions.
