Windy Snowstorm Whips Northeast; Whiteout On Roads

snow-storm-carA snowstorm with powerful wind gusts is whipping the Northeast.

Parts of Massachusetts are digging out from up to 10 inches of snow.

The snow blew through Massachusetts by late Wednesday afternoon. Maine’s eastern tip is getting pounded with blowing snow and winds gusting to 60 mph.

To the south, whiteout conditions are blamed on a pair of pileups involving 40 vehicles on I-81 around Falling Waters, W.Va. State police say two people were killed and seven were injured.

Weather experts downgraded a forecast that originally called for up to 2 feet of snow in eastern Maine. In Massachusetts, about 10 inches hit Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.
