Former MK (Balad) Said Nafa was found guilty by the Nazareth District Court on Sunday, 6 Nissan 5774 of visiting a hostile nation and meeting with a foreign agent, in this case, Talal Jaji, the deputy director-general of the PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine). The meeting took place in Syria in 2007. He was found not guilty of another charge surrounding an alleged meeting with Hamas politburo leader Khalid Meshal.
In this case of the conviction, the MK decided to ignore a prohibition to travel to Syria set in place by the Interior Ministry.

Given that Israel is at war with every Arab country except Jordan and Egypt, and that Israels frequently visit and have contact with those countries that Israel is at war with, it seems this is yet another example of Isarel’s system of politically motivated selective prosecution.
