El Al Flight Delays & Cancellations Due to Pilot Work Sanctions

elalFor some El Al passengers, reaching their European destination was not as easy as they thought it would be. Flights from Ben-Gurion Airport to European destinations on Thursday night the eve of 9 Iyar were delayed or even canceled, the result of work sanctions by pilots. The dispute surrounds work issues. Hundreds of passengers spent hours in the airport until they were finally instructed to return home, aware the scheduled flight could not take off because there were no enough pilots.

Flights to Munich, Bucharest, and London were delayed and canceled. The 00:45 flight to NYC was also delayed for hours.

The job action has been ongoing for a number of days and until Thursday night, the airline managed to juggle flights and schedules. The job action increased in size on Thursday, leaving El Al with no other alternative, resulting in heavy delays and even cancellations.
