Rick Santorum Kicks Off a Solidarity Mission to Israel

santnFormer senator and 2012 presidential candidate Rick Santorum began a 3-day trip to Israel on Monday 22 Menachem Av. Among the purposes of the trip, according to his Conservative group ‘Patriot Voices,’ is “to show solidarity with the State of Israel – with her courageous people and leaders… and to reaffirm the moral and strategic imperative of maintaining a strong, close, enduring US-Israeli alliance.”

The first stop on Santorum’s itinerary was a visit to the City of David, site of Biblical Jerusalem. Explaining the significance of opening his trip in this way, Santorum said, “Walking through the City of David, seeing the excavations and seeing the Bible come to life, is really quite remarkable… It’s a great start to the understanding of Jerusalem, not just for Jews, but for all of us.”

As he made his way through the drainage channel beneath the Herodian road, leading from the Shiloach Pool up to the Kosel Plaza, Santorum connected his visit to Operation Protective Edge. “Walking through the tunnel, where the last 2,000 Jews were killed by the Romans, when they sacked Jerusalem,” Santorum remarked, “to be walking through those tunnels, at a time when tunnels are being built to kill Jews, was a striking contrast, and one which will stick with me for a long time.”

Apart from his visit to the City of David, Santorum’s itinerary also includes visiting an Iron Dome battery, as well as meeting with Israeli government and IDF officials, Israeli soldiers, and residents of the south directly impacted by the ongoing conflict with Hamas.

  1. I supported Santorum last election…a good man.
Romney(the offshore investor) had money and Ron Paul to edge out Santorum, whose devotion to family and limited resources left him vulnerable.
He still is vulnerable for those reasons, which leaves him susceptible to attacks, but his heart is true and in the right place. and he is an intelligent former Senator that understands both the foreign and the domestic front.
He was the 1st to really recognize the danger of Iran.
Elections require someone with more than intelligence and good morals, however, and someone who can defeat the Leftist agenda and anti-Israel that unfortunately has completely taken over the Democratic Party.(Note Democrats vote for Israel but will they ever separate themselves from the far-Left of Obama, et. al.? No.)
GOP has to nominate an intelligent, true, and no nonsense tough person, that can get the job done.
Will they nominate someone who doesn’t offend too much or will they nominate someone who speaks boldly. I nominate the latter…the Democrats have no interest in moderation and, unfortunately conservatives, can only answer that stance with an equally strong stance of their own.
Rubio, Cruz, and yes, Santorum, all support Israel and a strong America, my support is with any of them.
