Jerusalem Family Hospitalized Due to Inhalation Injuries

mdanParents and their three children ages 2, 5, and 7 are hospitalized after they were exposed to contact cement fumes.

The family, which resides on Elkana Street, was feeling headaches, dizziness, and difficulty breathing. They were transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. A preliminary probe by fire department inspectors revealed the fumes came from the glue used to hang wallpaper in their home.

The calls for assistance came in during the predawn hours on Monday 29 Menachem Av. Three hazardous materials units were dispatched to the scene. All tests for toxic chemical agents were negative.

A further investigation led to the information that the home was just wallpapered and the adhesive used was contact cement.

  1. sometimes Israelis turn on the A/C and refuse to open the windows since it goes against their feeble mind to realize that you need fresh air.

Come to the pukky bais medresh where I learn and inhale the rotten air.

Many glues have fumes that are poisonous and have warnings on the labels not to inhale them.

I am assuming that since the day was soooo hot, the people turned on their A/C and slept in the poisonous atmosphere of the house.
