Police Chief Yochanan Danino Reports Arab Violence in Yerushalayim is Down – MK Yogev Calls Report a Lie

parAn urgent session of the Knesset Interior Committee was held on Sunday 9 Marcheshvan following the attempted assassination of Har Habayis activist Rabbi Yehuda Glick. At the session, Israel Police Chief Yochanan Danino reported that after police brought in reinforcements and cracked down on the Arab violence and attacks in the capital, the number of attacks have diminished significantly. Getting into a heated argument with him was MK (Bayit Yehudi) Moti Yogev, who called Danino’s report “a lie”.

Danino retorted “Whoever does not think there has been as sharp drop in the number of attacks is not connected to reality”.

Yogev stated “Whoever believes there are no rock attacks is not connected to reality. It’s time to land back on earth.” The two then went back and forth a number of times accusing one another of lacking credible data.

Danino then details the extensive police activities taking place in the capital during recent weeks, insisting the result is fewer attacks and improved security. Regarding ongoing efforts to permit Jews to daven on Har Habayis, Danino stated that no Israeli government since 1967 has changed the status quo on Har Habayis and this is his department’s basis for operations. He added the attempted assassination of Rabbi Glick has inflamed the situation and he department will not hesitate closing Har Habayis if and when the situation demands doing so.

Also attending the meeting was Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, who added ‘We dare not accept a situation that includes rock attacks”. They mayor acknowledged the visible police presence and increased manpower in the city is having an impact. He spoke of his recent visit to Har Habayis and the briefing from Rabbi Glick. Mayor Barkat said the Arab women in black who harass the visitors is an unacceptable situation. The mayor insists Jews must be able to visit the site without the Islamic harassment for this too is the status quo.

MK Moshe Feiglin turned to the police chief and spoke of the daily threats appearing on his Facebook page yet to the best of his knowledge, not a single arrest has been made by police. He explained that the threats are at the very least a violation of laws against incitement yet police have not responded in any fashion. “The bullets that were directed at my friend Yehuda were directed at me and our sovereignty over all areas of Israel” added Feiglin.

At the meeting of the Knesset Interior Committee, MK Feiglin laments the lack of Jewish sovereignty on Har Habayis (Hebrew)

  1. Why does the criminal Danino, who has the blood of the three Kedoshim on his hands, still have his job??? Israel is the only Country in the world where no one loses their current Government job no matter what.
