Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett on Tuesday 1 Teves accused the Ynet website of lying in its report that he gave journalist Chaim Hecht a ministry position after the latter supported his campaign. Bennett announced the report is simply a lie and he added “You do not have to compliment [me] but you should not lie”.
Bennett responded on his Facebook page writing that the article leads one to believe that he took care of a party activist at the taxpayers’ expense. He stressed that Chaim Hecht, who was appointed as the presenter for the ministry, was selected by his predecessor Binyamin Ben-Eliezer and not him. (Ben-Eliezer was a Labor MK who recently retired from Knesset).
Bennett denies any involvement in that decision and terms the Ynet article untrue.
“The only word of truth in the article is the spelling of Hecht’s name”, Bennett added.
