Ministry of Transportation officials report that prices of public transportation, buses and trains, will not increase in January 2015 as is usually the case. Public transportation fares are adjusted twice annually, on January 1 and on July 1. This usually spells an increase in fares. On January 1, 2014 the fares were adjusted by 4.7%.
There is more good news as it appears that at the end of the year, the price of gasoline will drop by 54 agorot a liter (95 octane), which will bring the cost of a liter of gasoline at the self-service pump to 6.33 NIS. That is the equivalent of $6.44 per US gallon, based on the exchange rate of $1/3.93 NIS.
