Snowfall Has Begun in the Golan Heights

The predicted storm is underway as snowfall has begun in the Golan Heights on Thursday afternoon, 1 Rosh Chodesh Adar 5775. The snow is expected to travel to the mountainous Central Region and Yerushalayim in the coming hours. Temperatures have already begun dropping significantly in the capital and wind gusts are measured at 40-60 KPH (25-36 MPH) and will increase as well. Gusts are expected to exceed 80 KPH.

The storm has been given a name, “White Flakes 3”. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has meet with Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovich and other relevant officials, who continue to brief him as the storm progresses.

Meteo-tech reports “It is difficult to predict just how much snow will accumulate but it appears it will be significant, in the tens of centimeters”. Various reports state accumulations in the capital may reach a half meter (19.5 inches).

The heaviest snowfall is expected from Thursday night through Friday morning as was reported earlier.
