Herzog Attends Litzman Chasenah – PM Netanyahu Phones

litzmanMK Yaakov Litzman was in Bnei Brak on Tuesday night 5 Adar attending the chasenah of a grandchild in the Dekel Hall. With elections a few short weeks away, it was an event attended by many political hopefuls, including Labor party leader Yitzchak Herzog. Needless to say there were many admorim and rabbonim attending the simchas as well.

Politicians present included Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, coalition chairman Yariv Levin, MKs Moshe Gafne, and Yitzchak Cohen. Conspicuously absent was Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who apparently did call to wish the family mazel tov. Litzman wishes the prime minister success on his upcoming congressional address in March.

  1. 1. A simcha is more fun than the usual campaign stop.

    2. Based on the polls, unless Labor and Likud want to form a “grand coalition” (and perhaps even if they do), the hareidim will be needed by the party forming the government as an alternative to recruiting coalition partners whose ideology they can’t stand. And the price for hareidim will be unusually low this year, since they must get a change to the basic laws on conscription (as opposed to the usual demands for patronage).
