Prosecutors in NYC Urge Jury to Convict Man in Al-Qaida Plot

abidProsecutors are urging a U.S. jury to convict a Pakistani man on charges he was part of a terror conspiracy to attack targets in America and Europe.

Jurors began hearing closing arguments Monday at the trial of Abid Naseer in federal court in New York City.

Naseer testified last week that emails he wrote in 2009 contained innocent banter about women he met while studying in Manchester, England. But prosecutors claim that the names of women were code for bomb ingredients in a failed al-Qaida attack on a shopping mall.

Nasser was extradited from Britain in 2013 and is representing himself at the trial. He was to give his closing argument following one by an assistant U.S. attorney.
