Fast Moving Thunderstorms To Pass Through NYC Thursday Afternoon


rainn.jpgA cold front is currently moving through New Jersey and will be approaching the area soon. This will bring a brief period of heavy rain and wind gusts between 40 and 45 MPH. Isolated thunderstorms will also be possible. Thursday is expected to be mostly dry and sunny.

TIMING/PRECIPITATION:

Fast-moving, isolated thunderstorms are possible between noon and 7 PM.
The steadiest rainfall will occur between 4 PM and 5:30 PM. Showers will begin to taper off between 7 and 8 PM.
Total rain accumulation is expected to be around 0.25 of an inch, with higher totals possible during thunderstorms.
Rainfall rates are not expected to reach an inch per hour during today’s precipitation event.
Dry and breezy conditions return Thursday.
