Former senior Likud official and cabinet minister, Gilad Saar, who announced he is taking a break from politics before the last Knesset elections, has decided to return to the political arena, Channel 10 News reports.
According to the report, Saar made his announcement during a party function in Petach Tikvah less than a week ago. He reportedly told Likud activists that in soccer, a timeout is one minute and in politics, one hour.
Saar was viewed by many as a contender to challenge Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for the party leadership position. The partyโs central committee ranked him number one in the lineup but despite calls to compete in the leadership race to unseat the prime minister, he announced he is taking a hiatus from political life.
