De Blasio, During Building Renaming, Praises Dinkins’ Legacy

chrNew York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is renaming Manhattan’s Municipal Building for one of his predecessors.

The building was renamed for David Dinkins on Thursday. It houses government offices as well as the offices of Comptroller Scott Stringer and Public Advocate Letitia James.

Dinkins, now 88, was New York’s first African-American mayor. He was elected in 1989 and served one term.

He was the last Democrat to be mayor until de Blasio was elected in 2013. De Blasio was a staffer in the Dinkins administration.

The current mayor praised his former boss during the renaming ceremony, saying “history still doesn’t recognize” Dinkins’ accomplishments.

Crime, though still high, began to fall during Dinkins’ term. It later fell to record lows after he left office.

  1. Black leaders have some apologizing to do as well.

Black NY mayor Dinkins has spoken of his own mishandling of the riots, admitting he “screwed up Crown Heights.”

On September 5th, Italian-American Anthony Graziosi, was dragged out of his car, brutally beaten and stabbed to death because his full beard and dark clothing caused him to be mistaken for a Hasidic Jew.

Al Sharpton said when a black child was run over by a car driven by a Lubatchiver Hasid, “The world will tell us he was killed by accident. Yes, it was a social accident. … The issue is not anti-Semitism; the issue is apartheid. … No compromise, no meetings, no kaffe klatsch, no skinnin’ and grinnin’. Pay for your deeds.”

When Sharpton was asked about the killing of a Jew and the violence, he justified it:
“We must not reprimand our children for outrage, when it is the outrage that was put in them by an oppressive system.”

He went on to lead a second pogrom, this time against a Jewish-owned business in Harlem. He never apologized or even acknowledged his leadership of these two anti-Semitic pogroms, or any of his other incidents of racial agitation.

And the media learned nothing from Crown Heights; they continue to ignore Al Sharpton’s record of hatred. History shows he is nothing but an opportunistic hater.

President Obama continues to patronize Sharpton’s political group, National Action Network. And the NAACP in Los Angeles awarded Sharpton for his lifetime of work last year.

Obama should stop inviting him to the White House and condemn him for his rabble-rousing activities.

  2. And how about the $11,000 headboard he ordered and paid through the mayor’s office.

He was forced to repay the money from his personal account.
