The following statement was released by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat on motzei Shabbos in response to the terror attacks in France on Friday night, 2 Kislev.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said “Today the entire world understands what we have been experiencing in Israel and Jerusalem in recent decades- murderous terror fueled by hate and a death mission against innocent civilians in the West. We must unite together against all forms of terror. From Jerusalem, we send our deepest condolences to the French nation, to the families of the victims who were murdered in Paris and to the Litman family here in Israel who lost two family members yesterday, as well.”

City officials added The Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Development Authority will illuminate the walls of Jerusalem’s Old City with the colors of the French flag. The walls will be lit starting from tonight at midnight, from IDF Square until the Tower of David.
