Two men were arrested for breaking into cars in Boro Park, Wednesday evening, and once again thanks to social media, false rumors of a terror attack went viral.
A Boro Park Shomrim (BSSP) spokesperson tells YWN that two Hispanic males were witnessed by a local resident breaking into vehicles in the vicinity of 11th Avenue and 56th Street at around 5:00PM. The NYPD was contacted, and Shomrim attempted to stop the men. One of the two pulled out a knife and threatened the members while attempting to run away. They were easily disarmed, and safely apprehended until police were able to arrest both of them.
Unfortunately, messages went viral on social media about two Arab men armed with a knife attempting to stab people on the streets. YWN has confirmed with police sources that both males are Hispanic and that this was in no way terror related.
One of the men has a rap sheet with previous burglaries for breaking into vehicles.
The exact charges in this incident are still unknown.
