The Eida Chareidis and Yerushalmi Faction, followers of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita gathered on motzei 10 Teves for a rally against the new draft law. The followers of Rav Auerbach as well as the kehilla of the Eida Chareidis feel one should not cooperate in any way with IDF authorities while the Gadol Hador, Maran Hagon HaRav Aron Leib Shteinman along with Hagon HaRav Chaim Kanievskey Shlita have instructed talmidim to report to induction centers for their first draft notice only.

The motzei 10 Teves rally is sparked by the new draft law, which sets a an annual draft quote of 2,700 bnei yeshiva.

It should be noted that signs were posted in The Mir instructing talmidim not to participate in the rally.

  1. Who did Moshe Rabbeinu draft? only tzadikim. Who did Shlomo Hamelech draft? It should be an honor to protect yidden from harm.

  2. Exactly, but in the army if this ממלכה הרשעה, no observant jew who gives two since should want to subserve himself to people who have to respect for his beliefs. And would love to trample on them!!!

  3. Yeah, when the leader is Moshe rabbeinu not people who are kofrim!!! Why don’t you go to the American army and protect the American Jews and if that’s not good for whatever excuse then go to the IDF to protect our jewish siblings in Israel!!! Don’t be a hippocrit!

  4. #1, everyone agrees with that- however many believe that closing the sephorim is not a way to protect anyone but rather endangers everyone. Keep your eyes on the point of dispute without blurring the issue with passionate statements that do not pertain to the subject at hand.

  5. This is silliness, they’re all so over-dramatic. I’m just glad it looks like they didn’t set garbage on fire this time.

  6. What a beautiful kiddush Shem Shamayim. The Gemara tells us “Torah Migni Umitzli” – the Torah is our true protection. Many Gedolei Yisroel attended including Rav Dovid Soloveitchik Shlit”a, The Ga’avad Shlit”a, Rav Shmuel Aurbach Shlit”a amongst several others.

Don’t forget that the commander in chief and all the commanders were also tzadikim – one could trust that an order was al pi Torah.
Serving in that army was indeed an honor. Even more of an honor was being assigned to stay in the beis midrash to learn on behalf of one of those soldiers.

  8. theprif1 – Indeed it should be an honor. Unfortunately Bennet is neither Moshe Rabenue nor Shlomo Hamelech. Their army had neither Kol Isha nor women soliders with less than optimum morals and numerous other issues that are prevalent in today’s IDF. And for every one who went to battle there was another man who learned and davened for the soldiers success and both were seen as equally vital unlike today. And anyone who wished to stay behind and not fight because they had sinned and were concerned they had lost divine protection was welcome to do so, unlike today. My fullest respect and thanks to any IDF soldier who is risking his life for our safety but the army of yesterday is not yet the army in Tanach.

Who believes not closing the seforim is not a way to protect anyone?? Anyone who believes that doesn’t believe in god the way he should that’s all. & this is not to get involved in the מחלוקת לשם שמים between the gedolim on this issue.

  10. This was a political rally highlighting the two factions of Ashkenzi Charedi Yidden. The Edah versus the Bnri Brak groups. No surprise that Brisk attended & Mir learned Torah instead!!

  11. This is so ridiculous! Instead of getting extreme, wearing sack clothing, etc, why don’t they spread the word that Torah & going to the army to protect the Jewish ppl cannot live with one another! Sheesh, you have Jews who die on the front line, who die Al Kiddush Hashem, and here you have the “Yeshivish” crowd pertaining a Blimp Chayal as R’sha?! How long is this שנאת חנם going to go for?! They fight so you can learn Torah! Enough spreading hate! We just fasted today due to this very reason!

  12. It sure is wonderful to see all the sinat chinam floating around this website. It makes me think that maybe we don’t actually deserve the geulah right now because there is so much more work to do. It’s saddening that people just assume that the IDF is run by a “bunch of kofrim ” before they even pay attention to what the IDF actually is and who actually runs it. It is insulting and disgusting that the Jewish nation can sink to such a low that they openly hate their brethren, the ones, by the way, that risk their lives every single day to protect every single Israeli, chareidi and chiloni alike. I can not stay silent when I see this sinah arising within our nation. I’m not saying that the chareidi community should draft and server, even though maybe they should do some sort of service, but I am saying that people need to appreciate the services that the IDF provides for all of Israel, even if some disagree with what they think the IDF is.

  13. it is simpler to be an extremist than to think issues through. It also FEELS good to be an extremist.

But being a thinking and responsive Yid is better, and avoiding these extremist gatherings is even better.

  14. Please see “chofetz chaim al hatorah parshas shoftim
page 264 on the posuk ki hashochad” that even a big
zadik a godol hador is influenced from the one who
gives him money and his psak will be not what the
godol wants but what the giver wants. Money from the
Israeli government is not excluded from this and no
godol that gets money from them personally or for
there mosed is excluded from this.

  15. Mayer……

Do we include $$$$$$ received from certain specific donors who have an agenda to push?? Is receiving big BUCKS from Ametican/European donors who have a specific haskafa/mihalach any different than receiving government funds?

Follow the $$$ trail (who sponsors these rallies) – they cost $$$ for the dias, loudspeakers, costumes, photo opps – & u may find out a hidden mystery. It’s not all LSHEM SHAMAYIM!

  16. Why can’t people protest against the draft without degrading and throwing insults at soldiers. If an Arab attacks you you’re gonna run like a little whimp behind the soldiers. Big talkers and כפויי טובה.
