Jerusalem Chief Rabbi Amar Plans to Hit the Streets for Kedushas Shabbos


amarJerusalem Chief Sephardi Rabbi, Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita, on Thursday, 4 Shevat met with members of the Vaad Shabbos in the city to discuss the alarming increase in the number of stores operating on Shabbos.

One of the items discussed was the weekly airing of movies in the Kiryat Yovel matnas (community center) as well as the operating of businesses in the Mitcham HaTachana.

Rabbi Amar expressed his pain over the realization that there are city agencies that are trying to increase Chilul Shabbos R”L. Rav Amar added he will personally try to speak to the mayor in an effort to persuade him regarding the severity of the situation.

Rav Amar also plans to take to the streets on Shabbos and ask store owners to please close out of respect for the sanctity of the day.
