Disappointment for Students as Most Schools Around Israel are Open on Monday Morning

classrMany students in the Golan Heights and surrounding areas were disappointed on Monday morning 15 Shevat as they hoped the snowfall would have accumulated overnight, but this did not occur. In fact, schools opened in most areas around the country according to Education Ministry officials.

The ministry opened its command center to monitor storm reports as snow accumulations are still expected in some areas. In Gush Etzion for example, after consulting with weather and security officials, the regional council sent an early morning email informing parents that schools on Monday would operate on a Friday schedule, closing after a half day to avoid having children on the roads as the snowfall accumulates. All schools in the Hebron, Matte Yehuda Regional Council and Gush Etzion districts will close at 13:00 on Monday.

Regarding Jerusalem, Tzfat, the Golan Heights and other areas, parents are urged to remain in touch by calling the ministry hotline number, 1-800-250-025, or visiting the ministry’s Facebook page.
