MK Gafne Accuses the Finance Ministry of Ignoring the Plight of Working Chareidi Women

gafneMK Moshe Gafne accuses the Finance Ministry of ignoring the plight of chareidi working women, announcing on Monday, 15 Shevat “Officials sit with their legs folded without addressing the distressful situation faced by working chareidi women who receive half the salary of non-religious women performing the same work in the high tech field”.

Gafne explained that the chareidi working women are “hostage” as their employers are aware they do not have any alternative. He stressed that a chareidi woman in a high tech company will receive half of the salary a non-frum in the very same company performing the same tasks will receive.

While the treasury representative present at the meeting responded “I don’t think we are sitting with our legs folder”, Gafne insisted he is correct, which eventually elicited the response “I do not know what to tell you”.

Gafne and other chareidi MKs have been working to bring the plight of chareidi working women to Knesset for all too often, they are sorely underpaid and deprived of rights and job perks others receive simply because an employer feels in their case he can get away with it.

  1. U r right.

A solution have a group of Charedi women join the company with the secular women & work with them. Their special accommodations cost $$$ & that lowers their salaries.

Now MK Gafni what is happening & improving in the field of yes, WORKING, Charedi men? Can u advocate for this sector too?
